My routine is pretty consistent, which means I can offer reliable care that fits around your cat’s needs. I work an NHS 9–5 role and work from home twice a week, so I have flexibility during the day on those days, and I’m usually home in the evenings with my husband and our own cat, Autumn. I offer 1–2 visits a day depending on what’s needed, and I’m flexible with timing, especially in the evenings. Visits are usually around 10–20 minutes, but I always adjust depending on the cat and what the owner prefers — some cats just want a quick check-in, while others are happier with a bit of company, fuss, or play. I take my lead from the cat and what they’re comfortable with!

Safety, trust & environment

I always make sure doors and windows are locked properly before I leave and I double-check everything so the home is secure. I’m respectful of people’s homes and will always follow any instructions given! If I notice anything not quite right with a cat, I’ll let the owner know straight away. I’ll stay with the cat, keep an eye on them, and if I’m still concerned I’ll contact their vet. In an emergency or if the vet is closed, I would take them to the nearest vet and keep the owner updated the whole time. I would never take a cat out of their home unless it was an emergency or I was asked to. I keep communication flexible depending on what the owner wants — some people like regular updates, photos and videos, others prefer fewer messages so they can relax, and I’m happy to adapt. I also respond pretty quickly so owners aren’t left worrying. My own cat is quite anxious and not used to other cats, so I really understand how important it is for cats to stay in their familiar environment and feel settled. Overall, my priority is always making sure each cat feels safe, calm, and well looked after in their own home.

Information Kate F. would like to know about your pet

It really helps to know a few things about your cat before I start, like their usual routine, feeding times, litter habits, and any quirks or behaviours so I can understand what’s normal for them. Their personality is also important — whether they’re shy, confident, anxious, or playful — as this helps me approach them in the right way from the beginning. I also need to know about any medical needs, medication, or special diets. Finally, it’s helpful to know how often you’d like updates, so I can keep you reassured in the way that suits you best. It all just helps me keep things calm, consistent, and comfortable for your cat while you’re away.

A typical day

A typical visit is pretty simple and calm. I usually start by checking food, water, and the litter tray, and making sure everything is clean and as it should be. Then I just take my lead from the cat. If they’re playful, I’ll spend time playing with toys, chasing games, or anything that gets them engaged. If they’re more relaxed or shy, I’ll just sit quietly with them, talk gently, and let them come to me in their own time. I don’t force interaction — I let them decide what they’re comfortable with. Before I leave, I do a final check that everything is topped up, the cat is settled, and the home is secure. It’s really about keeping things consistent, calm, and making sure they feel safe while you’re away.

Reliable Cat Care for Peace of Mind

Cat care experience

I’ve been around cats since I was a teenager when I got my first one for my 13th birthday, and I’ve had cats in my life ever since. Over the years I’ve also looked after family and neighbours’ cats, including kittens, anxious cats, and cats with specific diets, so I’m used to different personalities and routines. I’m DBS checked, have a full driving licence, and I’d describe myself as reliable, organised, and someone who naturally goes the extra mile. I follow instructions properly but I’m also sensible enough to adapt when needed, always putting the cat’s comfort first. If a cat is shy or hiding, I won’t force anything — I’ll give them space, let them get used to me, and let things happen in their own time. If they’re not eating properly, I’ll keep an eye, try gentle things, and always keep the owner updated. I genuinely love cats, and I care about making sure they feel safe, relaxed, and looked after while their owners are away :)
