I'm a freelance musician, so I can regularly offer sitting at times out of reach of the regular office worker. My hours fluctuate so I always aim to keep on top of my availability calendar.

Safety, trust & environment
First and foremost I will follow a client's instructions and guidance on what level of outdoor access their pet needs, whether it is being very conscious when opening the front door in case of flight risk, or whether their pet's outdoor time is strictly monitored or not. Every pet is different, and I will try and integrate myself into their household in a way that is sympathetic to their needs. Unless I'm directly instructed just to pop in and do feeding/topping up water etc I will usually sit down and do a bit of admin on my laptop and be a non-threatening presence in their home, so the decision to sit by me or pop on my lap is theirs. I do love to interact with pets especially if they're missing their owners, so if they are more confident pets I will try to offer a continuity so you do not arrive back to affection-starved animals.
Information Joseph E. would like to know about your pet
I always welcome any guidance on your pet's personality, how not to scare it, and how to avoid unintentionally upsetting it in any way. Through no fault of their own, cats can lash out and I can spot warning signs. I think with my experience growing up with cats, and looking after them as favours for friends/family, and professionally, I have understood via this process just how varied cat behaviour can be. I will be a new person to a new client's cat, so it may take a few visits to build up trust. Over my years or catsitting in various areas of London, I built up regular relationships with cat owners (and their cats) based on a familiarity, and I am always happy to offer repeat visits to give that level of continuity - cats do recognise a regular sitter and you're not building up a relationship from scratch each time.
A typical day
It all depends on the pet. If they are shy, I will make sure the essentials are taken care of and try, without imposing myself too much, to interact. Catinaflat have stipulated a minimum of 20 mins per visit, which is a good minimum to insure pets are not neglected of their essentials, or emotional needs. More often that not I can stay for longer, and get on with admin or reading a book, as I do enjoy a cat purring away near me, or jumping up for some cuddles.
Location
Brighton, United Kingdom
Cat sitter in Saltdean serving the wider Brighton/Seahaven area.
Cat care experience
I am a professional musician living in Saltdean and have grown up with cats in the family. I adore them and their often quirky behaviour. As well as growing up with cats, I lived in a 2-person flatshare with cats for 3 years, often having sole caring responsibility. I hope to have a cat (or 2) in the future but for now I will settle for sitting!
Reviews

As always, Joe is trustworthy and attentive. I look forward to receiving daily photos and videos of my cat and her kittens.
Joe is a great cat sitter, friendly, attentive to the needs of our cat and respectful of our home. The photo and video updates were great to keep us assured that Boo was being well looked after and happy. We returned from holiday to a happy kitty, thanks Joe!
Joe is attentive, diligent and reliable. I think he takes better care of our cat than we do. My mind is entirely at ease wjen I'm away knowing my cat is in great hands and getting lots of love and attention!
We always have a great time when Joe looks after Junko. Lots of updates and a very happy cat when we’re back. Thanks Joe
